What is the OvalFaceShape.com Disclaimer?
The OvalFaceShape.com Disclaimer states that the site’s face-shape results are educational estimates, not exact, scientific or medical findings. Results can change with your photo, lighting, angle and measurements. Golden ratio and symmetry scores describe proportions only; they do not measure beauty or health. Hairstyle and glasses suggestions are general guidance, not guarantees. Photos and camera frames are analysed in your browser and are not uploaded to or saved on our servers. Read this page with the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy.
Read these three things first
Every result comes from measurements, landmarks or your own answers. A different photo or angle can give a different answer, and both can be reasonable.
Golden ratio and symmetry scores compare proportions with a number or a mirror match. They say nothing about attractiveness, health or worth.
Photo and camera analysis runs in your browser and is not uploaded to our servers. Details in Section 7.

General Information Disclaimer
OvalFaceShape.com is an educational website about face shapes, facial proportions and styling. Everything on this site, including articles, guides, charts, quizzes and tool output, is provided for general information and education only, subject to applicable law.
Information that was accurate when published can become outdated as tools, methods and sources change. A statement on one page describes the tool or topic on that page; it is not a promise about every page, and it does not override the Terms of Use or the Privacy Policy. If any part of this Disclaimer conflicts with a right you have under applicable law, that right still applies.
Face-Shape Analysis and Detector Disclaimer
The Face Shape Detector, Face Shape Calculator, Face Shape Quiz and our other analyzers sort faces into named shape categories such as oval, round, square, heart and diamond. Those categories are a styling convention, not a formal scientific or medical classification, and real faces often sit between two categories.
A result can change with:
- Photo quality and resolution
- Camera angle and distance
- Lens distortion
- Head tilt or turn
- Lighting and shadows
- Facial expression
- Hair over forehead or jaw
- Glasses or facial hair
- Photo, camera, manual or quiz method
Each method measures slightly different points, so results can differ between them. We do not guarantee that a result will be accurate, consistent between methods, or the same if you repeat the test. Where two shapes score closely, the tools say so, and that close call is part of the result, not an error to hide. Treat every result as a starting point for styling, and check it against a clear second photo, your own measurements, or visible traits before relying on it.
AI, Algorithms, Measurements and Results
Our photo and camera tools use an on-device facial landmark model from the MediaPipe family (the Face Landmarker or Face Mesh, as each tool page identifies it), which maps 478 points on the face in your browser. The tools then calculate ratios between a small number of those points and compare them with the shape profiles and thresholds published on the tool pages.
Please understand what that does and does not establish:
- The thresholds are heuristics. The shape profiles, ratio ranges, weights and score bands are this site’s own design choices, informed by published anthropometric landmark definitions such as Farkas (1994). They are not universal scientific cut-offs and have not been calibrated against a labelled population dataset.
- A confidence or match score is not a probability. It is a closeness measure produced by the tool’s own scoring, capped and labelled as the tool pages explain.
- More landmarks do not prove more accuracy. A detailed landmark model still depends on your photo, and landmark documentation describes what a model outputs, not whether a classification is correct.
- No accuracy percentage is claimed. We do not publish a benchmark, error rate or validation study for these tools, and no result should be read as independently verified or professionally assessed.
The manual and quiz routes involve no image analysis at all: they use the measurements or answers you provide, so their results also depend on how carefully those were taken or judged.
No Medical or Professional Advice
Nothing on OvalFaceShape.com is medical, diagnostic, therapeutic or other professional advice, and nothing on this site creates a professional relationship between you and the site or its founder.
- The tools do not diagnose any condition and must not be used to assess health, development, identity or age.
- Face, eye, lip and symmetry analysis on this site describes visible proportions for styling purposes only.
- The founder is a web developer and site editor. This site does not claim medical, clinical or other regulated professional qualifications for its analysis, and its content has not been clinically validated.
If you have a concern about your health, eyes, skin, face or wellbeing, consult a qualified healthcare professional. For personal styling decisions that matter to you, a stylist, barber, optician or makeup professional who can see you in person can advise you in a way a web tool cannot.
Hairstyles, Glasses, Grooming and Styling Recommendations
Our hairstyle, haircut, beard, glasses, makeup and fashion guidance, including the recommendations attached to a tool result, is general suggestion based on face-shape conventions. It is not a guarantee that a style will suit you, look a particular way, or achieve a particular outcome.
Whether a style works depends on far more than face shape: hair type, thickness and growth pattern, individual features, skin, personal taste, culture and context, budget, maintenance, and the skill of the person cutting, fitting or applying it. No face shape is better or worse than another, and no guide on this site should be read as promoting a single ideal appearance. Use recommendations as starting points, adapt them freely, and disregard any suggestion that does not suit you.
Golden Ratio, Facial Symmetry and Beauty Scores
The Golden Ratio Face Detector compares five measured ratios with the mathematical constant 1.618 and averages how close they are. The Face Symmetry Test compares left and right landmark positions in one photo. Both produce numbers about proportions in a single image, and nothing more.
- A score closer to 1.618, or a higher symmetry score, does not mean a more attractive, healthier or more valuable face. The golden ratio page itself sets out the research: studies reviewed there found most facial ratios differ from 1.618 and little or no link between closeness to it and attractiveness ratings, and the evidence on symmetry and attractiveness is mixed.
- Score bands and labels on these tools are readability choices made by this site. Rarity is not scientifically established, and we do not claim that any score puts a face in a top percentage of any population.
- Popular celebrity golden-ratio rankings and similar press stories are not peer-reviewed findings, and where this site mentions them or any disputed beauty claim, it is as a popular claim to be examined, not as established science.
- Natural left-right differences are normal in every face. A lower symmetry score is not a defect, a health signal, or something that needs fixing.
Image Uploads, Camera Access and Privacy
This section summarises the position stated in the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use. The Privacy Policy is the full explanation of data handling and governs if there is ever a difference in wording.
Our position: your photo, camera frame or video is analysed in your browser, on your device. It is not uploaded to OvalFaceShape.com’s servers, not saved by the site, not stored in its database, and not used to train AI models. The site does not save your photo, video or result on its servers. The analysed image is removed automatically when you leave the site, close the tab, refresh the page, or choose another image.
- Camera access starts only when you choose a camera feature and grant permission in your browser, and you can revoke that permission in your browser settings at any time.
- Running a tool in your browser involves downloading the landmark model, tool code and page fonts from third-party hosts into your browser. That download is the tool loading, not your photo being uploaded, and those hosts receive an ordinary download request, not your image.
- A result card or file that a tool lets you save is created in your browser and downloaded by you. It is yours, on your device, and the site keeps no copy of it on its servers.
- One tool-specific detail: the Face Shape Calculator states on its own page that it saves only the shape name, score and date in your own browser’s local storage. That storage is on your device, not on our servers, and you can clear it in your browser at any time.
This Disclaimer does not add new privacy promises. If a tool page ever describes its own data handling differently, read that page together with the Privacy Policy and contact us about any wording that seems inconsistent.
No Guarantees or Warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, OvalFaceShape.com is provided as it is and as available, without guarantees or warranties of any kind, whether express or implied.
- We do not guarantee that content is complete, accurate, current or free of errors or omissions.
- We do not guarantee that any tool will be available, uninterrupted, compatible with your device or browser, or free of defects.
- We do not guarantee any particular styling, appearance or other outcome from following information or recommendations on this site.
- We do not guarantee any search ranking, traffic, business or financial result from using our guides or tools.
Nothing in this section, or anywhere in this Disclaimer, excludes or limits a guarantee, warranty or right that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory consumer protections that apply to you.
External Links and Third-Party Services
This site links to external websites and resources, and its tools load libraries, models and fonts from third-party hosts such as content delivery networks and Google Fonts, as disclosed on the relevant tool pages and in the Privacy Policy.
We do not control external websites or third-party services, and a link, citation or technical dependency is not an endorsement of that party’s content, products, services or privacy practices. External sites operate under their own terms and policies, which you should read before using them. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy or content of external resources, subject to applicable law.
Academic and technical sources cited on this site, such as Farkas (1994) and the MediaPipe documentation, support the specific points they are cited for, as explained on the citing page. A citation is not a claim that the cited author or organisation endorses this site or its scoring.
Advertising, Sponsored Content and Product Recommendations
Recommendations in our guides, including hairstyles, glasses frames, grooming approaches and other styling suggestions, are editorial. Naming a style, product type or approach is a styling suggestion, not a promise that it will suit you or perform in a particular way, and not an endorsement of any particular brand or seller.
The Contact page lists advertising opportunities among the topics people can write to us about. That listing is an invitation to enquire; it is not, by itself, evidence that any particular page is sponsored. If a page on this site ever carries sponsored content or a commercial disclosure of its own, that disclosure forms part of that page and should be read with it. This Disclaimer does not claim that the site earns commissions from recommendations, and it does not claim that the site is free of all commercial relationships; if either position needs to be stated for a particular page, it will be stated on that page.
Testimonials, Examples, Images and Illustrations
Much of the visual and example material on this site is illustrative, and it should be read that way:
- Worked examples use hypothetical numbers. Where a tool page works an example, such as the golden ratio calculation, the numbers were chosen to show the arithmetic. They are not a typical, average or ideal face, and not a real user’s result.
- Diagrams and illustrations are schematic. Measurement diagrams and generic face drawings show where landmarks sit and how a method works. They are not photographs of real people and not measurement evidence.
- Celebrity and public-figure references are educational examples used to illustrate a face-shape category or styling point. They are not endorsements, and a celebrity example is not proof that a classification or recommendation is correct.
- Result cards are generated in your browser from your own session, as Section 7 explains. An example card or screenshot is an illustration of the format, not a verified record of another person’s outcome.
This site does not present illustrative material as verified evidence or as actual user results. If you believe an image or example on this site is yours, is misattributed, or should not be used, please contact us so it can be reviewed.
Changes to Information and Tools
We may update, correct or remove content, guides, tools, methods, thresholds and functionality over time, including to fix errors, improve accuracy, or reflect new information. Tool pages may show their own version or update notes where a method changes.
An update takes effect when it is published on this site. We will update the “Last updated” date on this page when this Disclaimer changes, but we do not promise to notify individual visitors of changes to content, tools or this Disclaimer. If you rely on a particular page or result, check the current version on the site rather than a saved or quoted copy.
Limitation of Liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, OvalFaceShape.com and its founder are not liable for loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the information, tools, results or recommendations on this site, including decisions you make about styling, purchases, health or any other matter based on a tool result or guide.
This limitation is deliberately qualified:
- It does not exclude or limit liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
- It does not remove or reduce any mandatory consumer right or legal protection that applies to you where you live.
- It does not apply to the extent that a court or applicable law decides it should not.
This Disclaimer does not name a governing law, jurisdiction or dispute procedure, and the Terms of Use likewise name none.

Frequently Asked Questions
These answers are summaries. The full Disclaimer above applies, and a FAQ answer does not override it.
Are OvalFaceShape.com face-shape detector results always accurate?
No. Face-shape detector, calculator and quiz results are estimates. They can change with photo quality, camera angle, lighting, expression, hair covering the face, and the measurements or answers used. Treat a result as a styling starting point, and compare it with a clear second photo, manual measurements, or the quiz before relying on it.
Can I treat face-shape analysis as a scientific or medical assessment?
No. OvalFaceShape.com is an educational and styling resource. Its tools do not diagnose any condition, do not provide medical advice, and have not been clinically validated. If you have a medical concern about your face, eyes, skin or health, consult a qualified healthcare professional.
Does a golden ratio or symmetry score determine attractiveness?
No. A golden ratio or symmetry score is only a comparison between measured proportions and a number, or a left-right match in one photo. Research on these ideas is mixed and debated, and no score on this site establishes beauty, health, worth or how other people will see you.
How should I interpret hairstyle or grooming recommendations?
As general suggestions, not instructions or guarantees. A style that suits a face shape in a guide may not suit your hair type, features, culture, budget or personal taste. Use recommendations as starting points, adapt them, and rely on your own judgement or a stylist, barber or eyewear professional for personal decisions.
How are uploaded photos and camera images handled?
Your photo, camera frame or video is analysed in your browser, on your device. It is not uploaded to OvalFaceShape.com’s servers, not saved by the site, not stored in its database, and not used to train AI models. The analysed image is removed automatically when you leave the site, close the tab, refresh the page, or choose another image. The Privacy Policy explains data handling in full.
Does OvalFaceShape.com publish an accuracy rate for its tools?
No. The site does not publish a benchmark, error rate or validation study for its tools. Shape thresholds and score bands are the site’s own heuristics, so no result should be read as independently verified or professionally assessed.
Does OvalFaceShape.com guarantee the accuracy of its information or tools?
No. We work to keep information accurate and tools working, but content may contain errors or become outdated, and tools may be unavailable or produce an estimate you disagree with. Nothing on this site is guaranteed to be complete, current or right for your situation, subject to rights that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
How do I report an error or ask a question about this Disclaimer?
Use the Contact Us page or email mirzareyaan9@gmail.com. Email or the Contact page is preferred for general enquiries; WhatsApp is for quick questions.
Where can I find the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy?
The Terms of Use are at https://ovalfaceshape.com/terms-of-use/ and the Privacy Policy is at https://ovalfaceshape.com/privacy-policy/. Both are linked at the top of this page and in the Related Policies section, and this Disclaimer should be read alongside them.
